At the first stage, a sociological analysis was carried out: the sociologist collected information for a week.

Qualitative stage (September 5-8):

7 hours of observations in the park of pedestrian flows and visitor practices;

8 blitz interviews (3-10 min) in the park with the most typical users of the park area. Purpose: to find out how often informants visit the park, in what parts of the park, what they usually do and what is missing in the park;

11 semi-structured interviews

Quantitative stage (September 11-14):

An online survey using a prepared questionnaire on the social network www.vk.com from the official page of the mayor of Surgut Vadim Shuvalov. A total of 2090 questionnaires were collected, of which 1465 were filled out completely. A database was formed from them for analysis.

“Saima is like a summer gym.”
Male, 28, musician

“It is dangerous to walk there, I am constantly afraid that I will be hit by cyclists who are running around. In addition, the traffic is completely unorganized, the bike can fly out from anywhere!”

“The main thing is to separate the streams, it is impossible for them to travel along the same paths.”
Women, 30-35 years old, mothers of young children

Results aboutmillet were analyzed and formed the basis of functional zoning.

The project has developed a network of different routes:

Footpaths:

The network of paths has a hierarchy; forest paths, which are currently trodden by the townspeople, are added to the main asphalt paths. Part of these paths will need to be paved and lit, and the forest will need to be thinned out to provide a 50-meter line of sight. The rest of the paths should be left in their present, wild state so that the townspeople can afford to walk along the forest paths.

Bike lanes:

1. The network of cycle paths is separated from the pedestrian route as much as possible.

2. The bike path connects the university peninsula with the park area through the projected bridge.

3. There are several bike paths of different lengths: 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 m. The total length of the bike paths is approximately 8.8 km.

4. Along the embankment, the bike path “leaves” the pedestrian route into the depths of the forest so that the pedestrian promenade remains safe. In addition, combining a bike path and a pedestrian route in this part of the park is not possible, because. the width between the pines is small.

5. An additional bike path has been organized along the cemetery, which will also serve as a ski track in winter.

Ski route:

1. The network of ski routes coincides with the bike routes.

2. Organized several tracks of different lengths:

800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 m. The total length of the bike paths is approximately 8.8 km.

3. The ski rental point is located between the two main entrances, deep in the forest, but at the same time on the active walking route of the “city embankment”. Thus, the ski base is always visible to passers-by, but has a comfortable starting point in a pine forest.

4. An additional ski track is organized along the cemetery and coincides with the bike route.

5. The existing ski route in the eastern part of the park will continue to operate as usual, but the load on this route should be reduced due to the emergence of alternative ski routes. The route from the existing rental point is proposed to be combined with the route along the cemetery.

6. The ski route is formed in such a way that it passes through a cafe and a sports ground, as well as through a toilet and a first-aid post.

Ice rinks:

1. The park has 2 ice rinks in different parts of the park, with completely different atmospheres, so as not to compete with each other, but to complement each other.

The first track is located in the western part of the park and includes the square and the existing alley. Skate rental is located on the waterfront. The skating rink consists of 2 tracks with different dynamics:

closed field on the square;

a transit ring around existing tracks.

2. The tracks of the ice rinks are located in close proximity to the cafe, which has a beneficial effect on the economy of the winter mode of the cafe.

3. For the arrangement of the ice rink in the eastern part of the park, in the channel of the Saimaa, a number of activities should be carried out:

the water level in the Saimaa river should remain at a constant level, and not drain for the winter. To do this, it is necessary to exclude storm drains into the river so that the water is clean and does not have to be renewed annually.

Siberian Express route on Husky sled dogs:

1. A route on Husky sled dogs is provided on the territory of the park. In the eastern part of the park there is a site for the installation of an aviary, in which Husky dogs are brought on weekends and holidays and rides along the bed of the Saimaa River are arranged. In order to cross pedestrian streams as little as possible, the route is laid along the ski track from the side of the cemetery and goes to the river in the western part of the park. The river bed is the most interesting route for sledding, not limited to pedestrian crossings and interesting in terms of open views.

2. The aviary is located on a pedestrian route in order to be able to attract visitors and those who want to ride.

3. The route passes through the main entrance, where the active zone and the largest number of visitors are expected, thereby drawing attention to the attraction with dogs.

Boat route:

1. The boat station is located in the active western part of the park, next to the entrance and the beach area.

2. The boat station is a pier with a canopy and a small ticket office and storage of life jackets and technical equipment. Under a canopy you can hide from rain or sun, there will be a pleasant space for spending leisure time near the water.

3. Boats are not supposed to be stored in the boat station. Boats are stored in a special storage room, which is located next to the park administration. The warehouse or part of the warehouse can be rented from the park administration by the owner of the boat station. Such a scheme of separate storage of boats is the most effective in terms of the concentration of the warehouse in one place, which is easier to control. It is assumed that all land tenants and owners of various businesses can rent part of the warehouse for their own needs and equipment storage. Delivery of equipment across the territory is carried out on special vehicles at the most suitable time of the day/year, when pedestrian flows are the least.

Forest paths:

1. To diversify the routes in the park, 4 types of paths were developed with different surfaces, widths and types of lighting: a) main routes in the form of an asphalt path b) forest paths with larch coating c) forest paths along drainage ditches with stone paving & nbsp; d) unpaved forest paths This scheme shows paths with larch wooden pavement.

It was decided to choose larch flooring instead of decking, as consultations with specialists showed that larch is much more reliable and durable than decking.

The main entrance to the park from the street. University with information stands, places for rest and meetings

"Hall" of the park- a platform with canopies at the entrance to the park, which contains information about the park, places for recreation and meetings in the park, temporary shelter from bad weather.

Bridge on the Universitetsky peninsula

Square for city events

Area for various city events (concerts, fairs, lectures, dances). In winter, partly turns into a skating rink, and part of the square remains a pedestrian zone. The trees are preserved as much as possible and are an integral part of the design of the square, around which there are circular benches.

Hiking trail along the river Saimaa

“Cafe with terrace in moss garden“ located in the western part of the park, & nbsp; adjoining the pedestrian boulevard with the main pavilion and terraces & nbsp; to the system of artificial swamps. The selected area for the location of the cafe has sparse vegetation and involves minimal cutting. The soil in this area of the park is waterlogged and requires & nbsp; drainage, the creation of artificial swamps will help to drain this area by organizing an reclamation network. Artificial swamps can be a very energy efficient engineering solution for wastewater treatment using the natural features of swamp areas.

The swamps inscribed in the surrounding landscape will turn into a self-regulating ecosystem with its own flora and fauna. In this natural environment, a range of mosses, sedges, cattails, reeds and water lilies will naturally develop. Growing in mass on a certain surface, mosses create a special texture that is unlike anything else. The emotional experience of this texture of mosses, contrasting with the brilliant surface of the reservoir and enveloping objects of green light, is the basis of the aesthetic impact of the garden.

“Cafe with terrace in moss garden“included in  "Eco-route" and is a unique place of rest. For the convenience of visitors, wooden bridges are thrown across the reservoirs, walking along which you can admire the swamp flora and fauna, and continue the route.

Ski lodge.

The project proposes to create a ski base, which will work in the winter season for the rental of winter equipment (skis, sleds, etc.), and in the summer - as a rental of bicycles, scooters, roller skates, etc.In addition, under one roof of the base there is a cafe.

The roof of the ski base is made with a slope and in winter it works as a slide for sledding.

Thus, while parents enjoy nature through the glazed windows in the cafe after a ski trip, children can go sledding from the rooftop mountain.

"Cafe in the Garden".

The garden cafe is located in the southeastern part of the park in the transit zone, at the entrance to the park from the bridge, in the botanical garden, which makes it attractive for wedding ceremonies and pleasant leisurely walks.

The cafe pavilion is a 1-storey volume with a gable green roof, without a basement. A leaf of a tree is taken as the basis of the form. The frame of the pavilion is made of laminated wood with panoramic windows.

Half of the building is occupied by a summer terrace, in winter it becomes a veranda with a heating point and a stop for skiers. Panoramic planning solution allows you to enjoy the views of the Saimaa reservoir and the landscape. From the east, the cafe faces the square for events with an open stage, and from the west it adjoins the bike trail and the ski route. In winter, a city skating rink is planned on the Saimaa reservoir, near the cafe.

The main entrance is organized from the northern part of the building. Also in the summer you can enter from the terrace. The main room is a cafe hall for 150 seats.

"Garden of Exotic Plants".

The center of the entire territory is the Children's Educational Center. This is a very popular format of park infrastructure, which is actively developing in the cities of Russia and the world. Science and education of children in various spheres of life are in great demand these days.

In Moscow, every park has such an infrastructure, and every children's center focuses on one or another area of science or art, competing with other centers.

This is an ideal format for the city park of Surgut!  Moreover, in Surgut this direction is still developing. Education and ecology is a modern trend. This is also convenient for parents, because you can give the child away and carve out a few hours or a whole day for yourself, depending on the program chosen. Or sit in a co-working space in the same Children's Center or in the Phyto-cafe and work with a laptop while the child gains knowledge in the classroom.

Pool

From the side of the already existing beach and sun loungers, the project proposes the installation of a pool on pontoons. The pool has a filter that takes water from the river and supplies it to the pool already cleaned. On cool days water can be heated, so the operation of the pool can be in the spring and autumn.

Identity

The project has developed a logo for the park, which consists of graphic symbols - numerous elements of the nature of the park itself and the Saimaa River. This logo can be displayed on all small architectural forms, & nbsp; spec. clothing for park staff, souvenirs, etc.
